The Comparative Form
Karşılaştırma durumu
The comparative form, which is made by adding -er or a preceding more to the adjective, shows either a greater degree or makes a comparison between two persons or things.
Sıfatlara -er son eki eklemek ya da önlerine more kelimesi getirmek yoluyla oluşturulan karşılaştırma durumu, ya sıfatın anlamını pekiştirir, ya da iki kişi ya da nesne arasında karşılaştırma yapılmasını sağlar.

The Superlative Form
Üstünlük durumu
The superlative form, which is made by adding -est or a preceding mostto the adjective, shows the greatest degree of a quality or quantity among three or more persons or things.
Sıfatlara –est son eki eklemek ya da önlerine most kelimesi getirmek yoluyla oluşturulan üstünlük durumu, bir kişi ya da nesnenin bir özelliğe, diğer benzerlerine gore en üst düzeyde sahip olduğunu anlatır.

This apple is the smallest.
Bu elma en küçük.
This apple is the biggest.

Be careful not to create a double comparative or superlative.

Doğru - O en hızlı koşucu.
Some adjectives do not have comparatives or superlatives because they are already absolute in meaning
Bazı sıfatlar anlam olarak zaten mutlak oldukları için karşılaştırma ya da üstünlük durumları yoktur
Examples: unique, Roman, dead, favorite, empty.
Örnekler: eşsiz, Romalı, ölü, favori, boş
Incorrect: The tour guide was very French.
Yanlış
The tour guide has to be either a French person or not, so cannot be described as "very" French.
Rehber ya Fransızdır ya da daha değildir. "Çok Fransız" ya da "az Fransız" olamaz.
Correct: The tour guide was French.
Doğru - Rehber Fransızdı.
Incorrect: The antique was the most unique.
Yanlış
Unique means one of a kind. Something cannot be more one of a kind than it already is.
"Unique" = "Eşsiz" bir kavramın tek örneğini ifade eder. Bir şey, bir kavramın tek örneği olmayı daha az ya daha çok gerçekleştiremez
Correct: The antique was unique.
Doğru - Antika eşsizdi (türünün tek örneğiydi).
